Deepak’s family including his grandfather, father and uncles were always fond of wrestling and as a child he would wrestle with other kids in his village.
Being in the wresting fray since 2008 Deepak’s role model has been the double Olympian, Sushil Kumar. He recent accomplishments include wining bronze at Asian Wrestling Championship followed by Gold at the World Junior Championship and a silver on his debut at the World Wrestling Championship. His fondest memory is being welcomed by the whole village when he returned home after winning the gold medal at the Junior Asian championship in 2016.
Deepak is eyeing the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and is determined to bring a medal for India. He starts his day at 3:30 am with training class which includes running, Chin-ups and different exercises. The session ends at 8:00 am and post that Deepak goes for lunch and after that he rests for a while. Then again, his evening training session starts at 4:00 pm and ends at 7:00 pm where he performs Dand baithak (sit ups) and works majorly on the technique part.
